Rockmond Dunbar Exits 9-1-1 After Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination

9-1-1 fans are saying goodbye to Michael Grant.

On November 15, Rockmond Dunbar last appeared as a series regular on FOX’s 9-1-1. His unprecedented departure from the firefighter movie following the show’s COVID-19 vaccine mission. Deadline reports that Dunbar is not an anti-vaxxer and has requested both religious and medical exemptions from duty, but has been denied.

Dunbar released a statement on November 16 explaining his reasons for leaving the show. “I applied for religious and medical accommodation in accordance with the law and unfortunately was rejected by my employer,” he said. “Sincerely held beliefs and my private medical history are very intimate and personal aspects of my life that I do not openly discuss and do not want to begin with right now.”

Dunbar continued, “I’ve been an actor in this business for 30 years, but my biggest role is as husband and father to our four young children. As a man of virtue. believe, I look forward to what the future holds.”
