Russian fighter jets escorted US Air Force bomber after it reportedly approached Russian airspace

Russian fighter jets have been scrambled to escort a U.S. Air Drive airplane that reportedly approached Russian airspace over the Pacific Ocean, Russian state information company TASS mentioned Sunday.

There have been no violations of Russia’s state border through the episode, in line with TASS, which, citing Russia’s Nationwide Protection Command Heart, mentioned “three Russian fighters Sukhoi-35S have been scrambled to escort a US strategic bomber B-52H, which approached Russia’s airspace.”

“The fighters’ crews recognized the goal as a strategic B-52H bomber of the U.S. Air Drive and escorted it over the Pacific Ocean. There have been no violations of Russia’s state border or harmful proximity of planes within the air,” TASS added.

Based on the state-owned information company, Russia’s Sukhoi-25S fighters “strictly adopted” worldwide guidelines and returned to base after the US airplane moved away from the Russian border.

CNN has reached out to the Pentagon for remark.

The incident marks the newest salvo in recent times between Russian plane and both U.S. or NATO plane. In March, NATO scrambled fighter jets 10 occasions to trace and intercept an unusually “uncommon peak” of Russian bombers and fighters flying over the North Sea, Black Sea and Baltic Sea, a NATO official mentioned on the time.

And in August 2020, two Russian plane made an “unsafe, unprofessional” intercept of a US Air Drive B-52 bomber over the Black Sea and in worldwide waters, inflicting turbulence to the B-52 that restricted its capacity to maneuver.
