Hollywood, along with the world at large, is mourning the loss of Betty White, the legendary comedian and comedian who has delighted generations of fans.
White, known for his memorable performances on Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden girls and Hot in ClevelandIn addition to her witty comedies and captivating talk show appearances, she passed away early Friday at the age of 99, her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas said. The Hollywood Reporter.
“Even though Betty is about to be 100, I think she will live forever,” Witjas shared with Everyone magazine in a statement. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world she so loved. I don’t think Betty ever feared leaving because she always wanted to be with her dearest husband, Allen Ludden. She believes she will be with him again.”
GLAAD paid tribute to the star with a statement from head of talent Anthony Allen Ramos, who hailed her as a “real ‘friend’ to the LGBTQ community.” He added, “Humanity. Her character Rose on Golden girls was instrumental in getting the attention of the LGBTQ community on television, specifically an HIV awareness episode in 1990. Throughout the rest of his career, White used his platform to Advocates for many issues affecting the LGBTQ community, including marriage equality and support at – exotic youth. ”
The National Comedy Center praised White in a statement about her “golden comedy” and called her “a true master of this art form. She was one of the first women to host a solo television show and was a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the early days of television.”
Fathom Events shared that they will celebrate her life by continuing with their plan to show the film Betty White: 100 years young – birthday celebration hits theaters on January 17, when she will turn 100. The project includes White’s inside stories, along with messages from her celebrity friends and clips from appearances on her various screens.
During CNN’s time New Year’s Eve Live TV show that aired Friday night, co-hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper aired clips of White and dedicated their first online tequila shot of the night to her. “This is in honor of Betty White, a good life,” said Cohen.
Hollywood stars took to social media to offer condolences and memory of the late legend.
Ryan Reynolds, her co-star in the 2009 comedy Offer, wrote on Instagram, “The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectations. She was trying to get old and somehow, not big enough. We will miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret. ”
“What a special life,” Ellen DeGeneres tweeted. “I am grateful for every second that I have to spend Betty White. Sending love to her family, friends and all of us. ”
Bob Newhart, who appeared with White in the series Bob and the finale of Hot in Cleveland, recalling the memories of her early career. “Betty was a regular on Jack Paar’s late-night show, and in 1960 she was there when I was on national television for the first time,” he said. “Betty actually invented television and is a complete professional. Today we have lost a giant.”
Debra Messing wrote that she was raised “watch and rejoice” by the star. “She’s playful, bold and smart,” Messing continued. “We both knew this day would come but it didn’t take away the sense of loss. Truly a national treasure. Fly with the Angels. ”
Praising White as “a spirit of goodness and hope”, in addition to heralding her talent for humor and humanity, Dan Rather posted, “Our world would be a better place if more people followed her example. It subsided when she passed away.”
Bob Iger, former CEO of The Walt Disney Company, called white as “Our Golden Girl, our friend, and our neighbor. ” He added, “Your intelligence, your charm, your warmth and your smile will always be with us.”
Reflecting what many are no doubt thinking, Viola Davis posted, “I thought you would live forever.” The Oscar winner added, “You blew a huge hole in the world that will inspire generations.”
Marlee Matlin tweeted that White “Will go down in history books as ageless..99 or 100, numbers believe she lived the best life EVER!”
Henry Winkler, who appeared in an episode of Mary Tyler Moore Show new job, shared that it “is hard to understand that you are no longer here.. But your memories of deLIGHT are.. Thank you for your help. [your] your humour, your warmth and your positivity. ”
