Ryan Reynolds Hops Aboard the Bode Bus
Ryan Reynolds, Patronus nice, casual dress, really thrives during the day. Don’t get us wrong: the man looks good in a suit, as many superhero movie leads do — but there’s something about the way he makes the shirts and trousers. usually look like the pieces put together that you want to wear, too.
But even simple master craftsmen need to update their arsenal from time to time, to get some fresh momentum into the spin. Enter this pink and white quilted shirt from Bode, which Reynolds wore on the way to Tuesday’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week. It’s an ideal mellow statement piece: the colour, a mute candy pink and a creamy white, gentle enough to match the Reynolds flow. Combined with his standard khakis uniform, a white tankand turtlenecks, the quilted shirt becomes like an aioli swipe at the wine-soaked ramp on another BLT — just enough of something to make you think, “Oh, that’s fun! ” (Similar to her husband’s rainbow beaded “Dad” bracelet, presumably crafted by one of his three young daughters, on his wrist.)
Towards the end, a Bode quilted shirt has become something of a gateway garment for Hollywood men, who, like Reynolds, tend to opt for nice, casual outfits. Designer Emily Bode took her groundbreaking brand west earlier this year, opening Bode .’s First Los Angeles Store to the delight of local fans — and certainly many celebrity stylists — who no longer have to travel to the brand’s Lower Manhattan headquarters to source their merchandise. Even as they have become more popular, Bode are considered textile-focused designs that still maintain a distinct versatility: Harry Styles, Michael B. Jordanor Seth Rogen, they can be a singular IYKYK pièce de résistance; above Jordan Peele, Brett Gelmanor Utkarsh Ambudkar, they could be whole damn kit and caboodles. Plus, even though Bode is still based in New York, those folk clothes definitely make a lot of sense in California.
