Beyond Samsung’s eccentricities Portable Projector $899.99 Acting as both a speaker and a lamp aimed at millennials, the tech giant is also updating the Neo QLED TV and The Frame at CES 2022.

Samsung’s focus is on improving the software with minimal changes to the hardware. For starters, the “Tizen” TV interface is being redesigned to pack more features into one place and has a new Game Center. On the hardware side, TVs are getting brighter, processing technology is improving, and The Frame is getting technology updates to reduce glare.

Let’s unpack it all while sharing some insights from our conversation with Dan Schinasi, director of product planning for TVs at Samsung, and Lydia Cho, head of product marketing for TVs .

samsung frame 2022

The main draw of Samsung’s sleek TV is that it’s not just an ugly black screen, but it also displays a work of art when it’s off. And while it’s not a complete redesign, the new year will bring a radical and well-deserved change to The Frame. For 2022, all sizes of Samsung’s frame will now feature an anti-glare and low-reflective matte screen, helping to make the work look more like art.

“The work of art has that parchment look and feel. And this board is going to make that happen,” Schinasi noted. “It’s not important [type of] art that you look at, that would be one of the additional benefits based on the performance of the console. ” Regardless of what you choose to display, the new Frame will look more natural, allowing for enhanced colors and accurate details.

We have shown the overall reflectivity of the upper panel Frame 2021 – for TV or art display. This will help correct glare when you’re not viewing the screen, which tends to mislead the living room into thinking it’s a TV, not a framed work of art.

We’re excited to put The Frame’s new finish to the test and see how it makes a difference in our everyday spaces. And regardless of size, The Frame still delivers 4K HDR images from a standard Quantum Dot panel.

If you’re not concerned about The Frame’s ability to display some glare, the 2020 model is available, sells for less, and gets a good review from us.

Samsung 2022 Neo QLED

Last year, Samsung impressed with Neo QLED 4K and 8K TVs, and also won the Best of CES award presented by CNN Underscored. It’s a change from standard LEDs to mini LED technology, essentially wrapping more miniature LEDs behind the panel to produce a brighter, clearer image. The result is a more vibrant picture, with better image reproduction and upscaling for a rich viewing experience. This technology is combined with Samsung’s processing techniques, and 4K or 8K resolution HDR TVs can achieve 120Hz refresh rates.

All of that will be in place for 2022 on most of the Neo QLED Model – the core lineup will still be 4K and 8K variants. But this year, these LEDs will be even brighter for a better picture. And similar to Sony’s Bravia XR processor, Samsung’s processing and upscaling will now use AI to determine the focus of the scene, helping to make the area you’re viewing more detailed. The idea is to create a richer viewing experience, although we won’t know for sure until we test it.

The other change is that “high-end Neo QLED models” will offer a variable refresh rate of 144Hz, which should appeal to gamers and live sports fans. This is the previous 120Hz of the other standard models. And all Samsung 2022 smart TVs will also come with a new Gaming Hub.

“It’s a brand new platform designed to make it easy to browse, explore, access and launch all your games. With cloud gaming in the hub, you can also access games from a variety of places,” Cho explained. Game Center will let you pull games from a connected console like PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, along with cloud services like Google Stadia or Nvidia GeForce Now. Surprisingly, Xbox Game Pass is not on board yet, but the company has said that it is a possibility in the future. You’ll also be able to customize specific gaming modes on your TV, like adjusting the screen size and ratio.

All these features are part of a broader redesign of Samsung’s smart TV interface, giving you one-stop access to other services such as on-demand, live programming and live streaming. without having to search through multiple menus. The new interface will be divided into media, games, and ambient modes, which will provide content that can be displayed when the TV is off.

In an effort to capitalize on the popularity of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Samsung will roll out support for NFTs displayed and even purchased on the TV itself. They are also expanding “Watch together” options and provide intelligent calibration, making it easier to optimize image quality.

The QLED Neo 2022 TV series will launch in the coming months, along with more minor updates to the standard QLED models.

2022 Samsung Eco Remote.

Last year, Samsung’s Eco remote integrated a rechargeable battery with a USB-C port and a solar battery, allowing us to get rid of those user-replaceable batteries and work with ambient or artificial light.

For 2022, it’s getting smarter and more eco-friendly and will ship with most Samsung 2022 TVs – lifestyle TV white (Frames, Sero and Serif) and black for smart TVs. The new Eco remote will be able to collect RF waves and frequencies for recharging, which means it will actually take radio waves from your airspace and convert them into energy. So you could theoretically keep it close router for more powerful charging.

Samsung’s traditional TV hardware hasn’t received a major upgrade, but that doesn’t mean it’s glossed over. Improvements for Neo QLED will result in better visuals, and we’re looking forward to testing the improved smart interface. Gaming Hub will launch at the right time and will focus on more services for cloud gaming.

However, more interesting is non-glare frameand we named it a finalist for the best TV of CES 2022. We also named Freestyle Projector into the final, and you can see Our full analysis of why it matters here. We’ll be sharing the full list of finalists this weekend ahead of the top picks in each category.

We look forward to reviewing Samsung’s The Frame, Neo QLED 2022 in the coming months along with trying out the updated Eco remote.
