Saskatoon community association continues push for safer streets after death of 9-year-old – Saskatoon
Following the tragic death of 9-year-old Baeleigh Emily Maurice in Hudson Bay Park-Mayfair-Kelsey Woodlawn, the group affiliation is making a push for safer roadways.
Throughout a Saskatoon Police Commission assembly on Thursday, previous group affiliation president, Diane Bentley, spoke on behalf of the affiliation and introduced a letter.
Her letter states, “The latest and tragic demise of Baeleigh Emily Maurice on thirty third Avenue has offered the chance for enhanced security measures to make sure the protected crossing of all pedestrians, and cyclists on this ever-increasing busy avenue. These measures are, after all, the duty of the Metropolis of Saskatoon.”
She then made solutions as to what might be performed to enhance visitors circulate within the space.
Whereas dashing and impaired driving are elements, she says indicators and lights should be put up “to supply a higher sense of security and safety for individuals shifting forwards and backwards throughout the road.”
“One giant element of that’s schooling. Schooling to each drivers and pedestrians about courtesy, respect for everyone who makes use of the streets,” stated Bentley.
The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) famous within the assembly there aren’t any additional updates concerning the investigation into the accident wherein Baeleigh Maurice was killed.
Bentley shall be presenting her letter to the Metropolis of Saskatoon’s transportation committee as effectively subsequent Monday.
