Say Auroras? Sparkled by geomagnetic storms, is the ancient myth true? This is the truth

Can Auroras Really Make Sound? This study speaks for itself.

Auroras are the amazing result of geomagnetic storms on Earth! These stunningly captivating light shows in the night sky occur at the north and south poles with breathtaking views of dancing lights. Well, over the centuries a number of myths and theories have swirled around them, and one of them is about the talking auroras! Until now, scientists have dismissed these theories as psychoacoustic phenomena. But a recent study by researchers at Aalto University in Finland found something unusual! Research shows a strong link between geomagnetic oscillations and “aurora sounds,” a Forbes report mentions.

The northern and southern lights are mainly caused by the solar wind in space, essentially charged particles from the Sun, which accelerate through the lines of force of the Earth’s magnetic field. The green light is produced by charge carriers colliding with oxygen molecules, while other colors are caused by nitrogen molecules colliding with charge carriers. In theory, when the conditions are right, a bag of heated air about 75 meters above the ground could store a trapped static charge that would release as the air evaporated. Unto K. Laine, Professor Emeritus at Aalto University and lead author of the new paper explains: “This cancels the argument that the aurora sound is extremely rare and that the aurora must be particularly bright and clear. lively. During the study, the researchers recorded four hours of the aurora borealis west of Helsinki.

Another researcher explains that by using independently measured geomagnetic data, it is possible to predict when the aurora sound will occur in a particular area. Even these sounds are now more common than previously thought. The researcher explained that someone or another could hear the aurora’s sound, but they assumed it was the sound of cracked ice or the sound made by some animal! So it seems that the myth surrounding the sound of the aurora borealis is no longer a myth, but a reality!
