This just happens: The 2021 Christmas season doesn’t actually start on Black Friday – it officially begins on December 5, when Scrooges back on stage in a beautiful frenzy to play O’Brien’s Pub’s in Allston. The show was part of a Christmas toy party venue, a long-standing tradition in December passed down from Harvard Avenue from its now-closed sister site, Great Scott.
Oh, and it’s on my bill too Dick.
Attendance is not covered, but everyone must bring unwrapped toys (or donate at the door), as is custom every year.
Details beyond all the unknowns, but honestly, what else do you need to know? The Scrooges are the world’s greatest Santa-themed cover band Stooges, back from a hiatus last year due to Covid-19 and My Dick singing parody songs about their dog son. It all turned out to be a nice little Sunday in Allston: Go get your Christmas tree from the lot next door, then let The Scrooges fill your inventory with coal. After the way we’ve all acted this year, we deserve it.
For those unfamiliar with The Scrooges, check out the classic video below from 2008 and read David Unger and Pete Knipfing’s standout 2018 story reflecting on the band turning 20 (yes, just like in these 20 damn years). Merry Christmas!
