Seahawks’ Pete Carroll Expresses Disappointment, Leaving Press Conference Early After Loss Before Returning

Pete Carroll was particularly disappointed after the Seahawks’ 23-13 loss to the Cardinals in Week 11. It was obvious from the moment he arrived for his post-game press conference.

Carroll didn’t kick off his media availability with his typical post-game statement and fielded questions for about eight minutes. He has few answers to what has plagued the Seahawks in their recent slip, in which they went 1-5 and fell to 3-7 in the off-season.

Then, after about eight minutes, Carroll left the press machine while a reporter was asking questions. Multiple reporters who beat the Seahawks tweeted that it was Carroll’s first time doing so during his 12-year tenure in charge of the Seahawks.

“I’m really done. I’m done,” said Carroll as he stepped off the podium, each ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

But he didn’t. Carroll actually returned to the podium afterwards and apologized for leaving.

“I respect everything you guys do,” Carroll said of the media present during his press conference, per Alyssa Charlston. “I know you have stories to write. If I change you about stories, you know, you also have a job to do.”

After his return, Carroll shared a little more about his disappointment. He believes the team can turn this around, but none of the fixes they’ve rolled out so far have worked.

“I have a lot of reasons (to believe that the Seahawks can turn the tide),” Carroll said, per Seahawks.com. “Those are the people we’re coaching. That’s the way we operate. It’s the attitude they’ve had on a regular basis. The work ethic of the coaches is to keep pushing and attacking. problems, everything about it. Because I don’t.” I didn’t feel any different. I feel like we’re going to win next week, and we’re going to play a great game on the East Coast and be back here and ready for the next one, and I don’t have any other thoughts on it. my mind.

“I’m just frustrated that I have to keep coming back here and talking about the same things, and don’t feel that I have a good answer for you because our answers so far have not been successful and that is why I say, it started with me. I have to get this done. I have to help my people get it done.”

Indeed, the Seahawks’ struggles have been largely consistent throughout the season. The defense is allowing 401.8 yards per game. It’s the second-most tournament in the NFL behind only the Jets and is on track to become the most in franchise history.

Seattle’s offense has also struggled in the recent slip. The team is averaging just 15.2 points per game in the last six games and just 12 points per game in five losses. They are averaging the eighth few points per game this season, but they are hopeful that full-back Russell Wilson can return to form and help bolster the attack.

But as Carroll admits, those wholesale changes and fixes must come soon. Otherwise, tension and frustration will continue to mount in the often zen Seahawks locker room.

“If it’s the same story again next week, I’ll be a little more frustrated and intend to do something out of the ordinary,” Carroll said.
