OFFERa month, more than 130 famous comedians traveled to Los Angeles for the inaugural Netflix Is a Joke Fest — an 11-day celebration of the art of jokes bringing together A-list talents (Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Larry David) and rising stars perform at various venues across the city.
And, while the festival — which runs from April 28 to May 8 — has drawn headlines for Dave Chappelle’s unfortunate stage attack by an avid attendee, there was also plenty of fun on display, from Pete Davidson jokes about the possibility of Kanye pulling Mrs. Doubtfire to see what his children with John Mulaney did The late Robin Williams as an uncanny talent.
Throughout June, Netflix will release a special series of shows that have been taped during the festival — showcasing up-and-coming talent curated by a popular manga series. The first of these is Bill Burr Presents: Murderous Friendshit the live streamer on June 6, followed by It was my time with David Letterman on June 7, consisting of 5 minutes of standing up from the boisterous comics before a sit-down conversation.
