Seniors stuck in Detroit apartment building after elevator went unrepaired for weeks
EXTERMINATION Seniors trapped in an apartment building with a single elevator that hasn’t worked for weeks have contacted Help me Hank.
Some people have purchased the Life Alert device because they are concerned about the cost of their health when taking the stairs will affect their health.
Cynthia Gardner struggled to get up the stairs. She says the elevator in her apartment building is on West Boston Avenue in Detroit has been out for almost a month. It’s the only elevator in the building.
She invested in a Life warning equipment because she is worried about her health. She says the stress of walking up the stairs is taking a toll.
“My heart beat out of control and I had asthma. It’s just a problem,” said Gardner.

Local 4 contacted the on-site building manager, but received no response. Hank Winchester of local 4 then went to City 1 Ltd., the company that manages the building. No one in the office spoke and he was told the boss was on a plane.
Hank Winchester has City of Detroit related. An inspector is currently investigating and putting pressure on the management company to solve the problem.
“In this case, we have a promise that it will be processed before the week is over. They will receive the necessary equipment for the repair and by the end of the week if the work has not been completed. We will issue tickets. Hundreds of dollars,” said Glenn Davis with Detroit City Building Safety.
As of March 31, 2022 the elevator was fixed. The Hank Winchester report is available below:
