Serial Shootings in New York City and Washington, D.C., Were Carried Out by the Same Man, Cops Say

Police investigating a series of murders in New York City have confirmed that terrible crimes are linked to a similar murder in Washington DC

The chilling crimes began on March 3 when DC Metropolitan Police Department answered a call around 4 a.m. and discovered that a homeless man had sustained a gunshot wound. He was treated at a hospital and survived his injuries.

Five days later, another person was found shot in the early hours of the morning and survived. The next day, a similar attack was fatal.

Around 3 a.m. on March 9, rescuers discovered a body inside a burning tent northeast of the city center. After extinguishing the fire, investigators discovered that the person, formerly homeless, had been shot and stabbed.

DC police confirmed that all three victims experienced homelessness – and all three were targets of the same suspect.

The murders then escalated for the worse when three more homeless people were attacked over the weekend. This time, the victims are in New York City.

NBC 4 reported that the first two attacks, one in Tribeca and the other in Chinatown, occurred less than two hours apart in the early hours of Saturday morning. Surveillance footage shows a suspect, dressed in black, approaching a man sleeping on the sidewalk in a yellow sleeping bag. The attacker checks his surroundings and prods the sleeping person with his foot. Then he pulled a gun from his pocket and fired.

As in DC, the threat to New York’s homeless community doesn’t stop there.

At around 6 p.m. Sunday, a third man was also shot dead in Manhattan, this time near Greenwich and Murray Streets. NYPD officers told CBS that they knew the victim, 42 years old, and had last spoken to him on the morning of his death.

In a statement, the DC Metropolitan Police announced that they are working with the NYPD and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to find the culprit behind six mass shootings that left three homeless people dead.

“Homeless people are among the most vulnerable, and an individual who preys on them while they sleep is a particularly serious crime,” New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said in the statement. . “We will use every tool, every technique and every partner to bring the killer to justice.”

As investigators work to identify and arrest the interstate serial killer, officers and outreach officers are said to be scattered across New York City to warn the homeless community to seek help. Protect and shelter if they can.
