Sharon Horgan, Michael Sheen Lead Jack Thorne’s ‘Best Hobby’ – The Hollywood Reporter

Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen are teaming up for a new four-part family film from Jack Thorne.

Best Hobbywill air next year on BBC and BBC iPlayer with Endeavor Content that tackles international sales, explores children’s rights and the inequalities faced by the UK’s disabled community and tells the story A story about a family forced to make choices that neither parent wants. do.

Horgan (Disastrous, Together) and Sheen (Good sign, Quiz) plays a couple with two daughters, played by Alison Oliver (Chat with friends) and Niamh Moriarty (A Christmas Carol). When one of the daughters suffers a life-threatening condition, doctors believe it is in her best interest to die, but her family disagrees. And so begins a battle that will carry them through every stage of the legal process, as they struggle to think through this enormous decision. Who decides? And whose best interests will belong to?

The film comes from Chapter One Visuals combined with Endeavor Content, with Michael Keillor (Roadkill, Beat) is set to direct.

Last year, Thorne wrote the critically acclaimed TV series HelpStarring Stephen Graham and Jodie Comer, the film explored how the COVID pandemic in the UK is impacting the home care community. He has also raved about the rights of people with disabilities and representation in the television industry, which form the basis of his pivotal MacTaggart Lecture at the 2021 Edinburgh Television Festival.

The four-part series – currently shooting in London – was commissioned by Piers Wenger, chief executive of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, BBC chief content officer.
