The Huron County sheriff is warning residents about an Amazon rip-off after some residents had been duped out of hundreds of {dollars}.

Over the past three weeks, Sheriff Kelly Hanson stated his division has taken complaints from victims falling prey to phone and e mail scams involving people claiming to be from Amazon.

The caller claims they’re verifying Amazon purchases allegedly made by the sufferer and when the sufferer denies the acquisition, the caller asks for a debit or bank card quantity to delete the acquisition and refund the account.

One Huron County resident misplaced $4,000 final Friday via this rip-off, Hanson stated.

“That was on prime of the a number of different hundreds of {dollars} that different residents have just lately misplaced due to this similar rip-off,” he stated.

Hanson is encouraging residents to not launch necessary info over the telephone.
