Shorewood Senior Center distributes free cakes for Pi Day | News

ROCHESTER, Minn.- Today is March 14 also known as Pi Day. In honor of the holiday, a local retirement community distributed free cupcakes.

Fresh cakes were given out to people on its waiting list to live there.

Since last year, Shorewood has been handing out holiday cakes. The staff here were excited to do it again this year. They do it to show people how their food tastes.

The retirement community does it too to build a connection with them.

“There’s still a pandemic going on and we haven’t been able to attract as many groups of people to Shorewood,” said marketing director Ellie Starks. “While we are doing one-on-one tours, we cannot invite large groups to participate, so this is a way to invite a lot of people into Shorewood without bringing them into the building.”

According to Stark, Shorewood plans to run an event similar to Pi Day in the summer for future residents. Anyone interested in being on the Shorewood Senior Campus waiting list can call them at 507-252-9110.
