Singapore Writers Festival: South-east Asian hip-hop is as valid as its African-American origins

SINGAPORE – As the Singapore Writers Festival wound down on Nov 26, panellists dissected the way hip-hop has become an international phenomenon.

Singapore-born Canadian rapper Masia Lim, American journalist and historian Jeff Chang and bilingual Singaporean rapper Akeem Jahat drew a crowd to the Chamber at The Arts House as they shared their thoughts on how hip-hop has evolved.
