Singer Il Divo is 53 years old – The Hollywood Reporter

Carlos Marín, a member of the British singing group Il Divo, died Sunday at the age of 53.

Cause of death was not disclosed; however, he was hospitalized recently. The group announced his death through the Instagram account.

“We are informing you that our friend and collaborator, Carlos Marin, has passed away with a heavy heart,” the post read. “He will miss his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos. Over the course of 17 years, the four of us have been together on this incredible journey of Il Divo, and we will miss our dear friend dearly. We hope and pray that his beautiful soul rests in peace.”

The post is signed by three surviving members of the group: David Miller, Sébastien Izambard and Urs Bühler.

News of his death comes three days after Spanish news agency El Pais reported that Marín had been placed in a medically comatose state at the Royal Manchester Hospital in the United Kingdom. The hospitalization followed what El Pais reported was a week-long illness that Marín had to deal with during his UK tour. The team confirmed this via Twitter.

Il Divo was founded by music producer Simon Cowell in 2003. Before joining the group, he performed in a number of theatrical productions, including Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast and Grease.

Il Divo has released 10 studio albums, starting with Il Divo 2004 and most recently For Once in My Life: Motown Celebration in 2021.
Marín has also released a solo album, Portrait, last year.
