Six Senses Kaplankaya: Where health meets luxury

Make your health intrinsically good. In the same way that Six senses Weaving sustainability into every aspect of the physical design and spiritual ethos, they have managed, with their stunning Kaplankaya property, to create an effortless resort-infused wellness experience.

I know I’m doing good when I say that until the holidays, most of us want to be able to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, eat great food throughout the day (while not feeling like like all the work has gone through training and healthy eating has been put into thin air!), and overall, feel relaxed and in love with your surroundings. While Six Senses Kaplankaya is certainly not a dedicated ‘detox retreat’, it lands perfectly somewhere between the pure, unspoiled luxury that makes it the go-to destination for all. everyone.

It offers some of the most impressive (and quite large) facilities that I have seen so far, with the largest and most spectacular spa in Europe, part of a 10,000 square meter wellness facility (more details below) and beautiful views, no prevented from reaching the Aegen Sea. It’s private, enriched with stories from the local ancient land, and the perfect getaway in the sunshine.

Real estate

Kaplankaya is located just north of Bodrum, and after an hour’s drive from Milas-Bodrum airport you will arrive at the newly renovated Six Senses Kaplankaya sprawling estate with olive groves and impressive rock formations. It was formerly a Canyon Ranch hotel, the famous US wellness program, but after some political grievances and something about the rigor of the Canyon Ranch program didn’t quite fit the pants. them, Burak Öymen decided to partner with the famous Six Senses Hotel Group that was ordered, and I’m glad he did.

Now, it would be correct to describe this property as an integrated wellness resort. Modern facilities converge spotless beaches and dreamlike infinity pools. It is suitable for families but also caters to couples who want privacy and a bit of romance. Using the same New York-based design house that renovated the Six Senses Douro Valley property (Clodagh Design), the Kaplankaya resort is the perfect balance between contemporary architecture and culture. authentic local. The rooftops are covered with greenery and the property itself is carved into giant rock formations so from the moment you walk in, the smell and view of the turquoise sea will have the energy running through you!

There are three outdoor pools to enjoy the afternoon sun, pictured above is the clubhouse, which is part of the Six Senses Kaplankaya property but is positioned higher up in the hills for captivating views of the lake and the lake. Great infinity swim. The resort offers a free bus shuttle service from and here, along with their neighboring bohemium-style Anhinga beach club, a must-see!

Rooms

There are 141 rooms at the hotel, divided between rooms in the main building and Ridge Villas. My sister and I stayed in one of the beautiful Ridge Villas with private pools. For relaxing and private rooms, Ridge Villas scores great! While the size of the rooms doesn’t match their vast fitness facilities, it’s as expected with Six Senses, beautifully and uniquely designed and put together.

We enjoyed too many cocktails while watching the sunset over the hills from the deck! Rooms are flooded with natural light and make one of the “Sleep with Six Senses” wellness programs so easy with handmade mattresses and silky organic linens.

Health at Six Senses Kaplankaya

So while the property doesn’t even suggest a sense of guilt if you wanted a glass of rosé wine in the sun or a large portion of sourdough to soak up that rich olive oil, it would be a lie. It’s a lie to say you can’t feel the wellness ethos reverberating throughout the property. With everything from wellness & healing centers with a Doctor on site, to fitness facilities with basketball courts, pilates, yoga and cycling studios fully equipped as well as yourself Technogym is vast and impressive, it’s hard not to feel inspired to give your body a little TLC.

Upon arrival, I received a non-invasive physical examination, providing you with key physiological markers of your body and areas that you should focus on during and after your stay. From there, you can work with the doctors to come up with a treatment plan to solve the problems you want. They also have, quite impressively, the Bod Pod, which is one of the most recognized and accurate ways to measure your body composition as well as cardiovascular metabolic testing, and a whole list of programs dedicated to you to choose from.

You shouldn’t fancy the fitness side of things, spas are plentiful to keep you busy. The traditional Turkish hammams are actually quite stunning, starry and head-to-toe with gorgeous cream marble. There are 20 treatment rooms, an indoor pool and a Watsu pool (one of only two in the whole of Turkey), as well as a hydrothermal area complete with a Finnish sauna, a steam room and a sauna. crystal wet, salt rock cave and more. You certainly don’t change in no time!

Ps If you don’t know what Watsu is, it’s a treatment that takes place in warm water with a live practitioner. Previously it was merely about stretching but now it has been changed to an energy and emotion based treatment. It was my first Watsu Therapy and I was really blown away by the treatment and how it brought emotions and feelings to the surface that I didn’t even know was there. The watsu therapist at Six Senses Kaplankaya, Banu Alagöz, is nothing short of amazing and I would recommend anyone to go for the treatment, even if the team hasn’t specifically recommended it to you.

Even having this type of therapy as an option shows how Six Senses Kaplankaya exceeds expectations in the healthcare space.

Restaurant

The food at Six Senses Kaplankaya is sustainable, fresh and Mediterranean-inspired, showcasing the best of Turkish influence throughout the restaurants. The resort has its own Organic Garden with a dedicated gardener who dedicates his love to producing the finest produce powered by the Aegen Sea, as much as possible to serve the hotel guests. .

With three main restaurants and three unique bars, there’s plenty to choose from. My favorite experience is at their ‘Meze by the Sea’ restaurant, which serves some of the best meze plates I’ve tasted (beware of ordering too much!) as well as a healthy 5-course meal. , inspired by the ingredients we enjoyed at Alchemy Bar. This is a special experience that Six Senses can arrange for you and add one or a table for up to 14 people. Jordy and I also tried making our own face scrubs using a mix of natural and local ingredients at the Alchemy bar – then you can bring your own hand scrub. return to yourself.

Six Senses Kaplankaya is a gorgeous, luxurious property that, if you wish, has some of the best wellness facilities in the world and, if you don’t, is still the perfect destination for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. taste under the sun. I think they strike a very good hard-to-hit balance and will become very popular in the coming years for that reason.
