Ska Band Half Past Two releases Shot music video entirely in The Sims 3

Moving on, AMVs – The Sims music videos are hot right now and Orange County ska band Half Past Two will prove it. Earlier today, the ska group released their music video for “Curtain Call,” which was filmed entirely in The Sims 3.

The music video begins with a mock-up of the band’s lead singer, Tara Hahn, riding a bicycle before kicking off into the upbeat pop-punk track. What happens next is a lot of Sim-ly hijinks involving vagabonds, bull-riders, and the game’s infamous Dance Sphere.

Like any other music video, this effort features the director: Rae Mystic. While Mystic has shot a lot of music videos using more traditional methods (including some of the earlier Half Past Two videos), shooting an entire video in The Sims 3 was a new and exciting challenge for me. with them.

“I’ve been playing The Sims since its first generation, and I’ve always wanted to make a Sims music video, ever since I was a kid,” Mystic said in a press release. “I posted on Twitter expressing my wish and Half Past Two was the first band to join.”

“When Rae came up with the idea of creating an entire music video in The Sims, I sent them directly to let them know we were in,” added guitarist Max Beckman. “I fully trust Rae’s artistic vision and knew they would deliver an entertaining, creative video, despite having never worked in the field before. I also breathed a sigh of relief when I didn’t have to go up. plan to shoot video with eight members at once!”

However, while not having to coordinate eight people can be a welcome change of pace, Mystic adds that there is still a lot of process involved – and letting members’ respective sims do the main work. Exactly what they want is not always simple. In the end, Mystic took about 13 hours to complete the project.

“I shoot a music video like any other: I create a set in the game, customize the lighting and, of course, make sure I represent everyone in the band. Create and ‘shoot’ it took about 13 hours, not including the editing. It was tough getting the Sims to do what I wanted them to do with the loose storyboard I had written. Tara cycling was planned from the beginning, Mark riding the bull didn’t plan but it looks fun to throw In!”
