Skybound Animation appoints Marge Dean as Studio Head – The Hollywood Reporter
Skybound Animation has a new boss. Marge Dean has been appointed head of the studio, known for the animated Amazon adaptation of Invincible. In this role, Dean will oversee the production of new animated content, including seasons two and three of Invincible, for which she joins the team as an executive producer.
“I’ve always admired Skybound’s creator-driven spirit and it’s a content-rich company,” Dean said in a statement. “I am excited to join the company in this period of growth and development, and look forward to working closely with Skybound’s creative and leadership team on these amazing properties.”
Dean was previously a studio director at Crunchyroll, the anime streaming giant. Prior to Crunchyroll, she was the general manager of motion studio Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, which saw her win an Emmy for Chicken robot. Dean’s career includes stints at Columbia-TriStar TV, Warner Bros. Animation and Mattel’s Playground Production. In addition to her work as an animation executive, she is also the president of Women in Animation, the group that focuses on promoting women and gender underrepresented in animation.

Skybound Animation is an affiliate of Skybound Entertainment, the company that produces the franchise involving comic book superstar Robert Kirkman, the scribe behind Invincible and Zombie. Cartoon Invincible revolves around the 17-year-old son (Steven Yeun) of a powerful superhero (JK Simmons) who begins to show his own powers. It ended its eight-episode first season last year.
