NS. LOUIS – A second grader at the Pamoja Preparatory Academy in the St. Louis brought a loaded gun to school Monday, school and police officials said.
A school district spokesman said a teacher saw students open fire during recess and took action. Officers of the City of St. Louis and school district security officers were called to the school on Enright Avenue and confiscated the weapons without incident.
A police spokesman said the student found the gun in a locker under his parents’ bed and wanted to show it off. Police said they do not intend to prosecute due to the nature of the incident.
A statement from the school district reminds parents to check any weapons in the home and keep them out of the reach of children.
