‘SNL’ Lands Exclusive Interview with the Chinese Spy Balloon
Saturday Night Live opened this week’s program with—what else?—the China spy ball that the Biden administration successfully shot down earlier in the day. But unlike the rest of the media haunting the story has received over the past few days, the show has scored a massive interview with the balloon itself.
“Well, you get me. Congratulations, you’ve shot a balloon,” Bowen Yang told Chloe Fineman’s Katy Tur, reusing her balloon. Iconic portrait of iceberg took down the Titanic and applied it to the giant surveillance device.
“I entertained people for four days, then got shot by Biden. I can’t believe I’m Joe’s Osama!” he declared.
The hot air balloon went on to explain that he only flew over Montana because he loved gold stone so many. “Everybody is under constant surveillance, but it’s always ‘shooting the balloons’ and never unplugging Alexa!” he added. “If you care so much about your data, why do you all keep your bank passwords in your notes app?”
Then he asked, “Are people panicking because I’m a Chinese people balloon? Because where I am, I am just a balloon.” As the MSNBC host said goodbye, he added, “You’re going to miss this China spy ball — I mean, the normal balloon. But whatever, we already have your data.”
