“Someone recognized me as a batting coach”

Former England captain Wasim Jaffer delivered a cheeky response to the appointment of former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer as batting coach of the King of Punjab (PBKS) first IPL 2023.

The development comes after PBKS Twitter moderators made the announcement:

“Introducing our batting coach, Wasim Jaffer!”

Responding to a similar post, Vaughan wrote:

“Someone told me I was a batting coach.”

For those who don’t know, Vaughan and Jaffer often love to joke around on Twitter. The English player took Jaffer’s stick during the match Tested in 2002 at God.

Jaffer previously served as batting coach for Punjab from IPL 2019 to 2021. This veteran also shared funny videos about his reunion with PBKS.

Meanwhile, Brad Haddin and Charl Langeveldt were recruited as assistants and bowling coaches, respectively. It is worth mentioning that former SRH coach Trevor Bayliss took over the role of head coach from former India international Anil Kumble in September earlier this year.

PBKS releases Mayank Agarwal, 16 players retained for IPL 2023

Punjab Kings made the debut of captain Mayank Agarwal, who was retained for Rs 12 crore last season, ahead of IPL 2023. He has been underperforming this year, scoring just 196 runs in 12 innings with a ratio The average rate is 16.33 and the strike rate is 122.50. However, The Kings have retained 16 players for the upcoming IPL season.

Punjab has also retained many of its core stars such as Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow (UK), Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa, British smash hit Liam Livingstone, and young Indian pitchers Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar.

PBKS, who have not yet won the IPL, will find a way to fix their missing pieces in the mini-auction. With nine slots available, the Punjab-based franchise has saved a little over ₹32 crore ahead of next month’s mini-auction.

Current squad: Shikhar Dhawan (captain), Shahrukh Khan, Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jitesh Sharma, Raj Bawa, Rishi Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, Atharva Taide, Arshdeep Singh, Baltej Singh, Nathan Ellis, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Harpreet Brar
