Movie star Jim Carrey may be a joker, but apparently, he’s “quite serious” in calling time for his career.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 The actor who plays Dr. Robotnik mentioned that he feels he has “done enough” and that any future projects will depend on the script.

Here’s exactly what he had to say, courtesy of Variety:

“Well, I’m retiring. Of course. I’m pretty serious… It depends. If the angels bring me some kind of script written in gold ink that tells me it’s going to be really important for everyone to see, I can continue on the road, but I’m taking a break.

“I really enjoy my quiet life and I really enjoy painting on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel that way – and this is something you probably never hear. Other famous people say as long as time lasts – I have enough. I have done enough. I am enough.”

Paramount Pictures has confirmed a third Sonic the Hedgehog movie – led many fans to question Carrey’s future involvement.

With any luck, he’s signed to three Sonic movies, and his statement in this latest interview means he’ll no longer be in for new film deals.

If we hear any updates, we’ll let you know.
