If you, like many other gamers, have Sony’s PlayStation 5 on your wish list, then you’ll want to get in on the virtual goods at Walmart. The discount retailer will release both consoles on demand Cyber Monday – but you’ll have to be a Walmart+ member to get early access. (Other stores including Amazon have given Prime members the right to shop through November 23.)
Walmart is restocking the PS5 ($499) and the digital version ($399), both of which will be available to Walmart+ members on November 29, starting at 9 a.m. PT/12 night time ET. The PS5 along with Nintendo’s OLED Switch and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X console (three of this season’s most popular gift items) have all sold out due to delayed COVID-19 deliveries and chip shortages.
Reaching behind the velvet retail chain requires a Walmart+ membership, which allows you to buy retailer special releases and shopping events (such as Black Friday) earlier four o’clock everyone. It costs $13 monthly or $98 annually and includes free shipping from your local store on orders over $35, free shipping with no minimum purchases, drug discounts prescriptions, free checkout in-store contacts, and more. If you are a new member, you can take advantage of a 15-day free trial.
The difference between Sony’s PS5 and the digital version is that the first comes with a 4K Blu-Ray player (a great option for movie buffs), while the second doesn’t include a DVD drive. plate ($100 off). Other than that, they have identical specs: both are powered by AMD’s Ryzen Zen 2 CPUs with eight cores, 16 threads, and speeds up to 3.5GHz; and Radeon RDNA 2 architecture (which delivers true ray tracing), 825 GB SSD and 16 GB GDDR RAM.
All of that means the PS5 offers smooth gameplay at 120fps, supports 4K and 8K output (so you can play on 4230p screens), and includes Tempest 3D AudioTech. Immerse yourself on headphones or speakers. The console comes with a DualSense wireless controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
