The Dallas Mavericks haven’t been so successful lately and look like they’ve finally found a reliable companion for superstar Luka Dončić in the form of Spencer Dinwiddie.

Mavs is 10-2 since adding Dinwiddie arrives formation on the previous month’s trading period. He’s averaging just under 18 points per game and has two winning streaks in his last two games, the latter of which came Wednesday night against his old team, the Nets, in Brooklyn.

It’s always fun when a player can beat him/her old teammates, but to do it this way – with the winner of the game beaten by the whistle – must magnify that feeling tenfold. Before Dinwiddie wobbled Brooklyn, Dallas faced the Celtics in Boston, where he hit three to give the Mavs a 95-92 lead with nine seconds remaining in allotment time. Dinwiddie is definition of clutch currently, shoots 50% away and more than 45% from 3-pointer in his last 10 games.

The best part of the last two Mavs games was that Dončić assisted both of Dinwiddie’s game winners. Luka has been fantastic since the day he stepped onto the NBA court, but one of the biggest hits for him has been lack of trust in teammates.

“I don’t know if anyone told Picasso he had to use all the paints, but I just wanted to remind him that he can rely on his teammates.” Coach Jason Kidd said. “His teammates will be there to help him. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to work with a young Picasso whose paintings have been great up to this point and will only get better. ”

Luka has shown absolute confidence in Dinwiddie in the past two matches. With both games, Luka got through instead of forcing a lousy shot. I think this is what Kidd was talking about when he said, Luka’s teammates are there to help he. Dončić counted on his teammates in a tight game of head-to-head confrontation at the last minute, and the Mavs went away with two thrilling wins.

This should be recommended for Mavs fans as it could be a turning point for Luka and Dallas. Dončić failed to make it past the first round of the knockout round, and it looks like this could be the year that this trend ends.. The Mavs are locked in the fight for the 4th seed in West against the Utah Jazz with a score of 43-26. Both teams are three games behind the Warriors for third place, and 1.5 more Nuggets, currently ranked 6th seed. If this holds, the Jazz and Mavs will face off in the opening round of the playoffs.

If that happens, I’ll take these Mavs over the Jazz in six or seven games. It’s time for Luka and Mavs to graduate from the first round and become more heavyweights. The way Dallas is playing right now, I can see them overtaking Utah and giving Memphis or Golden State a run for the money in the second round. The Grizzlies are young, and I’m not sure how ready they are for a post-season deep run. The Warriors have recently been dealing with a traumatic injury that has just brought Draymond Green back into the lineup. Now Steph Curry will miss time Sprained ligament in left foot.

The way things are looking in Wester Cright now, I wouldn’t be shocked if Dallas found me in the Western Conference Finals. So, West is more open than it was just a month ago. The Phoenix Suns have also struggled with injuries to key players such as Devin Booker (returning to the squad from March 9) and Chris Paul, who remains sidelined. This could be the year when a team dozing off comes forward and surprises everyone. With a few well-timed breaks, that team could be the Mavs.
