Splatoon 3 ‘Chill Season 2022’ Update Announced – New Weapons, Stages, Game Modes & More

It’s been over two months since its release Splatoon 3 and while we continue to have a great time with the game, we feel that some sort of additional content Must be going to happen. Well, our hunch proved right, as Nintendo announced a bunch of new goodies coming to the Splatlands in ‘Chill Season 2022’ – landing on Switch December 1.

Outlined in the trailer above, this new content is set to introduce a host of features including new weapons, stages, game modes, gear, and victory emojis for all. even those with a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

So what will these new gifts entail? Well, we do know the update will see Brinewater Springs debut Splatoon on the theatrical side, with a rural village vibe making up the bulk of the announcement trailer. Flounder Heights, which you can remember from the first time splash gun game, will also land on Switch.

In terms of game modes, Chill Season 2022 will see the arrival of both X Battles and Big Run. We heard about the first of these in some extensive promotional material that came out before the game’s release in September. This game mode will only be available to you once the game is reached. elite rank in Anarchy Battles, you’ll then place ‘X Power’ on the line as you play to gain a spot on the game mode leaderboard. Fit the best of the best tools right there!

For Big Run, this game mode is a twist on the Salmon Run format. We don’t know much more than that at the moment, although Nintendo has stated that “The first big run will be when Salmon invades the Wahoo World stage later this year.” We’ll have to wait and see what this new mode will entail, though we can expect more details soon.

Both of these modes will launch alongside three new weapon types (one roller, one shooter, one charger) and the return of a bunch of weapons from previous games. Again, details on these new weapons are sparse for now, though the trailer shows a Charger that seems to be able to fire multiple fully charged shots in quick succession as well as a Shotgun. and Roller Guns never seen before (though what their abilities are, we just don’t know)! There will also be a secondary weapon shuffle to go with new recruits.

As if that wasn’t enough, Chill Season 2022 will bring a wardrobe full of cosmetic items including “equipment, custom trophies, victory emojis, stickers, etc”.
