Spotify cancels 6 audio shows in latest show cut – The Hollywood Reporter
Spotify has canceled at least six of its live audio shows as part of the audio giant’s latest program cuts.
Included in the cancellation are Deux Me After Darka celebrity gossip show hosted by an anonymous creator named Deux Moi; Doughboys: Snack packsa food show hosted by comedians Nick Wiger and Mike Mitchell; People who like to watch moviesa movie review program hosted by comedian Jon Gabrus, A gay person in lifea current event and LGBTQ+ cultural program from Teen Beach Movie star Garrett Clayton and writer Blake Knight; talk taylor, a show for Taylor Swift fans hosted by Ellie Schnitt; and Lorem’s lifea music show based on Spotify’s Lorem playlist hosted by Dev Lemons and Max Motley.
The cancellations, two of which were not previously reported, were confirmed as Hollywood Reporter by a Spotify spokesperson.
The audio giant, which rebranded its live audio offering in April from Spotify Greenroom to Spotify Live, will continue to release live episodes from Ringer MMA . Program and Virtual playerssequel reached an agreement with Spotify earlier this year, which includes extending the show’s partnership with Spotify Live for the next three NFL seasons.
The show changes, first reported by Bloomberg, are the latest cuts from the audio giant, which canceled a total of 11 shows from internal studios Gimlet and Parcast. – 10 of which ended last month. The cuts follow a similar pattern to TV show cancellations for broadcasters and streaming.
In the case of Spotify’s live shows, at least two deals were canceled midway through the creator’s contract, according to a person familiar with the matter. Other creators like Alex Cooper, whose Spotify Live program was promoted as part of the company’s live-audio rebranding, have not resumed hosting episodes since. when they launched their program earlier this year. Cooper’s second and most recent live episode took place in April and was made available to listen on demand on April 28.
