Star Wars Andor series presenter avoided fan service at all costs
If you are looking for a passion Star Wars show chock full of guests, then Andor probably not for you. The series is a prequel revolving around Diego Luna’s character from Rogue One, a thief turned spy for the rebels. And while characters from across the Star Wars universe – such as Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mo Henri (Genevieve O’Reilly) – will appear throughout. Andor, showrunner Tony Gilroy tells IGN that he’s more interested in telling a good story than responding to fan requests.
Gilroy explained: “We don’t want to do anything fan-oriented. “We never wanted anything… the obligation from the start was that it be as completely unquestioning as possible, that the show would be real and honest.”
After some delays, the 12-episode series will premiere on Disney Plus on September 21. In addition to Luna and O’Reilly, Andor also featured Stellan Skarsgård (Mamma Mia), Adria Arjona (Morbius), and Denis Gough (Colette). Forest Whitaker plays Saw Gerrara, a character who first appeared in Star Wars: Clone Warsbefore appearing in Rogue One.
