State of emergency declared in Victoria County of Nova Scotia as storm hits Cape Breton

A state of emergency has been declared in Nova Scotia’s Victoria County due to a slow-moving weather system across the Maritimes.

In a notice posted on the Victoria County Facebook page, officials are asking people to shelter in place until further notice.

Currently, the Department of Public Works is evaluating roads and bridges for safety.

Officials are asking people to stay home and let the crews do their jobs.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
