Steve Zahn, Jared Harris, John Magaro star in dark comedy ‘LaRoy’. – The Hollywood Reporter
Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club, The White Lotus), Jared Harris (Crazy men, Chernobyl) and John Magaro (First cow, Oh Academy) logged in to star LaRoya dark comedy horror film by Shane Atkinson, screenwriter of the 2019 comedy Diane Keaton Poms.
Based on the original screenplay by Atkinson, LaRoy follows a frustrated man who is mistaken for a hired killer. With nothing left to lose, he decided to play along. But he gets into trouble when the real killer comes looking for his money. Magaro will play Ray, who will be murdered. Harris is the humble but very down-to-earth contract killer. Zahn will be Skip, a bumbling detective who blackmails him into the case. LaRoy will mark Atkinson’s film directorial debut.
Sebastien Aubert (Strange people) Will produce LaRoy for Adastra Films with Caddy Vanasirikul (Stand in) for The Exchange, Jeremie Guiraud and Jim Seibel (Kill them gently). Principle photography is expected to begin in New Mexico in September.
The exchange is handling world sales on LaRoy and will introduce the project to buyers at the Cannes film market later this month.
Exchange’s Cannes 2022 lineup includes rom-com Kaley Cuoco / Pete Davidson Meet cute, The Independent starring John Cena, Brian Cox and Jodie Turner-Smith, as well as Tyrese Gibson and Vivica A. Fox’s Bosco.
