Student cycling ends up cross-country trip due to accident in Norman


An organization called Overland Summers told KOCO 5 that the person killed along Highway 9 near Morning Glory Drive last Friday was a high school student. The group then released a message saying that the student fell and was hit by a car traveling in the same direction. The Normal Police have yet to issue a report, they said the investigation is ongoing and they do not expect any arrests. The group said they don’t walk in the dark, and they thanked Oklahoma’s first responders for their help and concern.

Students who cycled cross-country for six weeks ended their trip after three weeks due to a tragic accident in Norman.

An organization called Overland Summers told KOCO 5 that the person killed along Highway 9 near Morning Glory Drive last Friday was a high school student. The group then released a message saying the student had fallen and was hit by a car traveling in the same direction.

The group said no one else was injured and they have counselors to grieve almost immediately until the families of other students traveling can make it to Norman and back home.

Norman Police have yet to release the report, saying the investigation is ongoing and they do not expect any arrests. The group said they don’t walk in the dark, and they thanked Oklahoma’s first responders for their help and concern.
