Sudhir Wins Gold in Men’s Heavyweight Weightlifting: Here’s How the World Reacted


India’s Sudhir runner set a Commonwealth Games record to win a gold medal in the men’s heavyweight final. After lifting 208 kg on the first attempt, Sudhir continued to lead with 212 kg on the second attempt. Despite failing at 217 kg in his third and final attempt, Sudhir still won the gold medal and also set a Games record with a total score of 134.5. This is India’s seventh gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games. People from all walks of life took to Twitter and praised Sudhir for winning the gold medal.

Sudhir, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Para Games, is disabled due to the effects of polio.
