Super Bowl: Rams recipient Beckham suffers knee injury

INGLEWOOD, Calif. –

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will return to the Super Bowl after he injured his left knee in the second half against the Cincinnati Bengals.

It was the same knee injury Beckham suffered midway through the 2020 season in Cleveland, causing him to miss the rest of the year.

Beckham was injured in intermittent play with 3:50 remaining in the second half. The nimble receiver of the ball, who was signed by the Rams after being released mid-season by Cleveland, was running towards the right side of the field on a crosswalk, but his foot appeared to be caught in the grass. He missed a pass thrown by Matthew Stafford and held onto his leg as he fell to the field.

Beckham was given a look at the pitch by the coaches before being helped. He was glimpsed in the medical tent on the sidelines of the Rams before making his way into the locker room.

Beckham, who was signed with the Rams after being released by Cleveland mid-season, had two receptions for 52 yards. He scored Los Angeles’ first touchdown when he beat Mike Hilton in the bottom right corner for 17 yards to give the Rams a 7-0 lead in the first half.

Beckham caught 27 passes from 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Rams, providing a much-needed addition after Robert Woods was injured in practice one day. after Beckham arrived.

He excelled in the Rams’ second Super Bowl title race in four years, with 19 relays at 236 yards and one TD in three wins.

Beckham will become a free agent after Sunday’s game. His girlfriend, singer/fitness trainer Lauren Wood, is expected to have the couple’s first child any day.
