Surya got the role when the casting director discovered his YouTube videos and contacted him. In the videos, Surya sings, “taught” computer programming and gives cricket “lessons”. A family friend suggested he audition for the film and his housewife, Sunitha Sanagaram, encouraged him, “Do it.”
