Sword & Shield Becomes Second Best Selling Pokémon Game of All Time

There’s a lot of good news about Pokémon Legend: Arceus this week, and to supplement – we’ve got some up-to-date sales on the previous mainstream entry on Switch, Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick highlighted how Sword and Shield have made their way up the Pokémon ladder – beyond Gold and Silver Pokémon lifetime sales (at 23,700,000). This has been expected for a while now.

Nintendo’s Latest financial data reveals Sword and Shield currently has just under 24 million units left, although the original Game Boy titles from ’96 are still ahead. Here are the latest figures:

Red / Green / Blue – 31.380,000
Sword / Shield – 23,900,000
Gold / Silver – 23.700.000
Diamond / Pearl – 17,670,000 VND
X / Y – 16,580,000
Sun / Moon – 16,270,000
Ruby / Sapphire – 16,220,000 VND
Black and white – 15.640,000
Gold – 14.640,000
Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire – 14.460,000 VND
Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee – 14,330,000 VND
Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl – 13.970,000
HeartGold / SoulSilver – 12,720,000
FireRed / LeafGreen – 12,000,000
Super Sun / Super Moon – 8,890,000
Black 2 / White 2 – 8,250,000
Platinum – 7,693,000 won
Emerald – 7,060,000
Crystal – 6,300,000

And in terms of lifetime sales – Sword and Shield is currently the fifth-best-selling Nintendo Switch title since its release in 2019.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus also got off to a strong start last week – with Nintendo announcing that it shipped over 6.5 million copies worldwide.
