England multi-talented person Ben Stokes believe that pitchers deserve praise for beating Pakistan during the 2022 T20 World Cup final. Southpaw praised England for sparking a remarkable comeback after their defeat to Ireland.
England’s pitchers did a commendable job after picking out the front court. Left-handed pitcher Sam Curran became the pitchers’ choice as they limited Pakistan to 137th in 20 rounds. Although England were wobbly in the chase, Stokes stayed until the end to get them over the line with five sticks to spare.
Speaking after the 49-52 unbeaten run, Stokes said that limiting Pakistan to 130 was a huge effort and recalled how England overcame a loss to Ireland. As quoted by India Today, he said:
“In the finals, especially the chase, you forget about all the difficulties that came before. To limit them to 130, pitchers have to take a lot of credit. With Ireland coming early in the competition we have to deal with that, we may not carry luggage in tournaments. The best teams will accept that and move on to the next challenge. Good evening. “
The captain of the English Test also stayed with Sri Lanka until the end of the game to wrap things up. Chasing 142, their average order crumbled after Jos Buttler and Alex Hales got off to a good start. The 31-year-old remained unbeaten with 42 of 36 serves to send England home with four backup goals.
Ben Stokes completes redemption cycle after England defeat in World T20 final 2016
The win also completes the cycle of redemption for the all-round star, who conceded four sixs in the 2016 World T20 final against the West Indies. With 19 goals claimed in the final, Carlos Brathwaite stunned England by hitting four consecutive maximum points.
The all-powerful Durham’s position was also in doubt ahead of the tournament after failing to overtake Australia in the T20 series. However, he has been at full strength and has now helped England win their second ICC championship in three years.
