Teenager beat security guard, locked her in bathroom before helping 19-year-old escape from downtown Bridge
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Authorities are searching for a 19-year-old New Orleans man who injured an employee during his Sunday escape from the Central Youth Detention facility. Bridge City Center.
According to Deron Patin of the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice, the runaway happened around 3 a.m. The escapee has only been identified as a teenager from Orleans Parish, despite his age to qualify as an adult and state law allowing the name and photo of anyone who escaped from youth detention. youth.
The OJJ did not say why the escapee’s identity was kept hidden from the public.
According to the OJJ, the Bridge City facility was locked down following the escape and officials from the Louisiana State Police and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified. The OJJ said the detention center campus was declared safe, but said “one employee was injured in the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.”
Senator Patrick Connick said the 19-year-old influenced three other young men to dance a female security guard in the bathroom. The woman suffered a strong concussion, broke and lost her teeth. The teens then took her keys and locked her in the bathroom. Connicks said that three younger men helped the 19-year-old cross the barrier.
