Tesla Cybertruck production won’t ramp up until the end of 2023

Tesla likely won’t begin mass production of the Cybertruck for more than a year, according to a Tuesday report from Reuters, quote insider.

With end of 2023 production reported, that means that by 2024, Tesla may just start making the list of the hundreds of thousands of manufacturers that put $100 into a Cybertruck a few years ago.

During a quarterly update call to investors last month, Musk said that the company is “in the final round for the Cybertruck,” with an “early production” starting in mid-2023. Previously, all Tesla’s models, with the exception of the Model Y, which was heavily carried forward from the Model 3 in the introduction, required quite a long way to start mass production.

The Cybertruck has been revealed in November 2019, in vehicle form it looks like a concept car, but with claims of 0-60 mph acceleration under 2.9 seconds and a range of more than 500 miles in some version. The company at the time claimed that the Cybertruck offers “better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car.”

With a stainless steel bodywork, flat front and rear glass at one point, wheel wells shaped like hexagonal nuts, and a classic supercar-inspired overall design, the Cybertruck has entered the territory. New design for pickup. It became even more apparent after the launch of Cybertruck that the truck is not currently production-ready, as Musk in mid-2020 confirmed the final decision on production Dimensions of Cybertruck and clarify how its material selection will require new manufacturing tools. Tesla has since made suggestions about the possibility switch to 800 volts for Cybertruck.

Earlier this year, Tesla confirmed delays for Cybertruck, Roadster and Semiwith all three pushed to 2023. Since then, Tesla has started to make Semihowever, with the first deliveries due on December 1. Musk recently said that Tesla is “expecting” to produce 50,000 Semis annually in North America.

Price may still be a sticking point. Tesla initially set the Cybertruck at $41,100, including $1,200 destination, with Dual Motor AWD versions starting at $51,100 and the Tri Motor AWD model at $71,100. That’s when the Cybertruck was supposed to be delivered in 2021, and at the time of its introduction, a base Model 3 cost around $40,000. Since then, it has grown to about $48,000.
