Texan owner looks conflicted after win over Colts
The Houston Texans lost by winning their season finale on Sunday, and owner Cal McNair doesn’t seem to know how to feel about that.
The Texans entered Sunday knowing that a loss to the Indianapolis Colts would guarantee them a No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, a win by the Texans combined with a loss for the Chicago Bears would see Houston drop to 2nd place and the Bears would be picked first instead.
For most of the afternoon, the Texas team led the Colts, but they fell behind and looked like they would be lining up again for the first pick.
With less than a minute to go, however, Texas receiver Jordan Akins caught Davis Mills’ desperate 4th and 20th throws in the final area for a touchdown.
The Texans then hit two goals and won and converted, with Akins again catching a pass from Mills to give the Texans a 32-31 lead. That turned out to be the final scoreline, and it dropped the Texans to 2nd place.
McNair was on the pitch after the game and he didn’t really know how to feel.
