run time: 1 hour 33 minutes
Manager: Ben Ramsey
Cast: Actor:Michael Jai WhiteJulian SandsEamonn Walker
I am a huge fan of live action movies on video and especially those of the martial arts genre. But where does that love come from? A special week when I watched three of my all-time favorite movies: Universal Soldier: Calculation date, Undisputed II: Last Man Standingand Blood Bones.
In Blood BonesMichael Jai White (who also starred in undisputed IIand wrote and starred in black dynamite) as Isaiah Bone (yes), a former Marine and former rogue who is an accomplished martial artist. He is lured by a promoter named Pinball (Dante Basco) to join an underground fighting ring, which pits him against a mob leader (Eamonn Walker) and numerous capable fighters. force.
This movie sees White go head-to-head with former professional boxers Kimbo Slice, Bob Sapp and Matt Mullins, among other electric fights. The beautiful choreography makes the most of White’s incredible physicality and unbelievable kicking ability, and it’s a stunning display of sturdy bodies in motion. —Pete Volk

Loosely based on Jane Austen’s EmmaThe film stars Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz, a rich and famous student who enlists the “tragically unhappy” new girl Tai (Brittany Murphy).
Honestly, I really doubt there are many people reading this who haven’t seen it know nothing. This item is like a reminder that you should watch know nothing again. Nothing. —PV

Invasion of body bandits
Category: Science Fiction/Horror
run time: 1 hour 55 minutes
Manager: Philip Kaufman
Cast: Actor:Donald Sutherland Broke AdamsLeonard Nimoy
Philip Kaufman’s 1978 remake of Walter Wanger’s 1956 sci-fi thriller updates the original’s setting from a rural California town to the bustling heart of downtown Los Angeles. The film follows Matthew (Donald Sutherland) and Elizabeth (Brooke Adams), two scientists and colleagues who stumble upon a terrible secret: Humanity is being invaded by a secret invasion of humans. Extraterrestrial like plants are trying to take over the entire planet.
With a great supporting performance by Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nimoy, not to mention a Kevin McCarthy’s outstanding cameo (star of the 1956 version)Kaufman’s film is a savvy reinterpretation that updates the original film’s premise without losing any of its terrifying paranoia. the 1978s Invasion of body bandits is considered not only one of the best movie remakes of all time, but also one of the best sci-fi horror movies ever made. From the film’s otherworldly opening to its iconic and shocking ending, it’s hard to argue otherwise. —TE

Category: Crime movie
run time: 2 hours 34 minutes
Manager: Quentin Tarantino
Cast: Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster
There’s no better time than now to see Quentin Tarantino’s best movie ever (and to some extent). I said it and I mean it.
Adapted from the wonderful novel by Elmore Leonard Rum punch, this crime thriller stars the unprecedented Pam Grier as a flight attendant caught in the act bringing money from Mexico to an arms dealer (Samuel L. Jackson). When a bail bonder (Robert Forster) is assigned to pick her up, the two form an unlikely bond amid a complicated scheme.
There are many reasons to love Jackie Brown — Tarantino’s more frustratingly written narratives have been greatly mitigated by the fact this is a film adaptation and the film’s cast includes Robert De Niro, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton, and the young Chris Tucker. But my favorite part of this movie is how romantic it is. The chemistry between Grier and Forster as two middle-aged people suddenly falling in love is intense, and it’s one of my favorite movie couples to ever hit the screen. —PV

Mary and the Witch’s Flower
run time: 1 hour 43 minutes
Manager: Hiromasa Yonebayashi
Cast: Hana Sugisaki, Yuki Amami, Fumiyo Kohinata
Hiromasa Yonebayashi’s anime adaptation of Mary Stewart’s 1971 children’s book Small broom revolves around the story of a precocious young girl who, after following a mysterious cat deep into the nearby forest, is taken by a flying broom to a magical boarding school in the clouds. There, Mary is taught magic and discovers the amazing secret of a rare flower with immense magical properties that threatens the entire world when it falls into the wrong hands.
Although perhaps lacking the clarity of themes or emotions of movies like Kiki’s Delivery Servicee or Princess Mononoke, Mary and the Witch’s Flower anyway, it’s a beautiful film, and a passionate love letter to the studio at Studio Ghibli by some of the studio’s most talented former artists and animators. —TE
