The Ambassador Bridge on the Canadian side was closed on Sunday night
The Ambassador Bridge was partially closed on Sunday night.
Police said they were investigating a suspicious package found in a vehicle on the bridge.
Police first tweeted about the closure at around 9 p.m. local time, saying that the bridge on the Canadian side would be closed for an unspecified amount of time.
At the time of publication, some traffic is being redirected to the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel.
“[Police] take all the cars away and send them to the tunnel and they catch all the trucks parked in the living quarters [the] tax exemption. There are about 50-75 trucks,” Todd Marciano, a truck driver who was stuck at the US border, told CTV News.
He noted that trucks and cars entering the United States were not delayed, only those entering Canada.
“We reject the idea of staying [in Detroit overnight] or leave to drive to Sarnia. My company is wondering how they can get their trucks back because they need them Monday morning. ”
