The Arbery murder case offers hope for justice. But not much.

No.3 Convicted whites by a quasi-white jury in Georgia for the murder of a black man who did nothing wrong. On the face of it, yes cause for celebration by civil rights leaders.

But for many who have studied the racial divisions of the American justice system, Ahmaud Arbery Friday’s ruling is not a final victory by any means. While they are hoping for change, civil rights leaders predict longstanding inequality and systemic racism in the criminal-justice system will remain the norm.
