If you are a parent who was born in the 80s then it’s likely that you won’t have an appreciation for the modern games that are played on desktops, laptops and smartphones all across the country. It is fair to say that people sometimes play games excessively and people have been known to play video games for 12 hours or more every single day. This is not to be encouraged, but as a parent it is important that you understand that there are many benefits of video games that you may not be currently aware of.

The following are just some of those.

  • They improve vision – This might run contrary to what you’ve always heard about things like not sitting too close to the television or playing too many video games because it damages your eyesight. This is just not true and now research tells us that playing video games in moderation can actually improve upon your vision.
  • A better leader – Many video games nowadays require people to work as a team to be able to get to the next level and to defeat the enemy. Playing as a team in the make-believe world actually translates over to the real world and helps people to be able to work much better in a team environment.
  • More physical activity – Many kids nowadays are reluctant to go outside and to engage in some kind of physical pastime.
