The bridge is named in honor of a road worker who died on the job in Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A bridge on Highway 158 in Mobile County is named in honor of a worker who died on the job.

Marshall Walton died in a freeway work zone in 2015 when he was hit by a car.

Walton’s family was present Tuesday when the bridge over Seabury Creek was renamed the Marshall James Walton Memorial Bridge. His father, Johnny Walton, said the bridge symbolizes all those who died in the work area.

The dedication took place during National Workplace Awareness Week.

Wednesday is “Orange Wear Day” to honor those who lost their lives in work areas.
