“The credit must go to him for the changes he made”

Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised reserve captain KL Rahul’s leadership after Day 4 of the First Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Saturday, December 17. credit Rahul for the changes in bowling and also for his decision to use the new ball.

India is firmly in control The first test is only a day away. Chasing the huge target of 513, Bangladesh ended Day 4 on June 272. They needed another 241 runs to win the final day with only four racquets in hand.

At a press conference after the match on Wednesday, Mhambrey was asked to rate Rahul’s leadership, which has come under scrutiny in the past. Praising the solo captain, he said:

“We discussed it with the captain, but in the end you have to accept what he feels on the ground. The credit must go to him for the many changes he has made. He turns around and throws the ball very well. Gave athletes to throw the ball quickly short shots. At some stage the ball is also reversing, so that’s great to watch.

“When he realized that fast pitchers had longer spells, he took the spinners in and turned them very well. So did the new ball he took, we had a few hits with that ball. He made the right decisions.”

Rahul was leading the India team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out of the First Test due to a thumb injury. The second team is likely to return to the XI squad playing for the Second Test in Dhaka, which begins on December 22.

“The discussion is on the right track” – Paras Mhambrey on his return from an unsuccessful first session

When India Starting the day in the lead, Bangladesh’s openers put up a good resistance in the first half as the home side didn’t lose a single racket.

Regarding plans after a fruitless opening session, Mhambrey revealed that the talk revolved around patience and bowling in the right areas. He declared:

“During the lunch break, pitchers said in the discussion that hitting the ball is easy. The ball didn’t work as it did in the first inning. The discussion is about hitting the right spot, making them play, and waiting for an opportunity. We were rewarded for the same in the next two sessions.”

Left hand spinner Axar Patel is India’s bowling star, winning three championships in 50 runs. On what makes Axar such a tough pitcher to beat, Mhambrey explains:

“What stands out for Axar, first of all, is the speed with which he executes. It’s not easy for the hitters to step out. Also, in terms of the angle from which he throws the ball, the way he releases the ball, it is very difficult for the batter to leave it or play it. In a slightly rotated condition, you have to do those serves.”

Axar bowling Yasir Ali (five) and Mushfiqur Rahim (23) with serves over hitters. He also confused Nurul Hasan by three points.
