The electric 1500 REV RAM packs a lot of screens and surprisingly buttons and knobs • TechCrunch

RAM used some advertising time at the 2023 Super Bowl to showcase some of the features built into the upcoming RAM electric pickup truck. The RAM 1500 REV is, as the name suggests, Stellantis’ first entry into the burgeoning electric pickup truck war. Concept debuted last month at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, but some details, including interior features, were revealed later. This is the first time the company has publicly displayed the production version.

As advertised by the Super Bowl, the RAM 1500 REV will have multiple screens and, surprisingly, buttons and knobs. The interior of the electric RAM is similar to the petrol RAM.

The center stack has a giant, vertical touchscreen surrounded by physical buttons for climate control, vehicle playback, and truck control. Additionally, there are three screens at the front — the instrument cluster, the infotainment screen, and even the passenger screen embedded under the passenger side airbag (this screen is available on the Jeep Wagoneers and Grand). Cherokee). Like traditional RAM trucks, gear selection seems to be done via a rather large knob mounted on the dashboard.

Last month, the RAM 1500 REV concept featured dual motors and 350kW fast charging at CES. Still determining if the same setup will appear in production.

Two important details are still missing: price and power range. There’s still time, though. The RAM 1500 REV is scheduled for a 2025 model year, likely hitting dealerships by the end of 2024. At that point, the 1500 REV RAM will have to contend with age-old competitors. Ford to start selling F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck in 2022 and is expected to build
another EV pickup based on the compact Maverick. General Motors begins selling its first electric pickup, the Hummer EV in 2022, and will begin rolling out the more affordable Silverado EV in the second half of 2023. The Tesla Cybertruck is still unknown. The company launched the Cybertruck at a flash event in 2019, but they’ve continued to push the release. As of publication, Tesla allows customers to pre-order the Cybertruck but does not list an estimated delivery date.

Stallantis has yet to reveal the background details of the RAM 1500 REV. It is currently unclear whether it is built on top of the BEV-centric STLA Framework or something else. This detail is important for towing and towing capabilities.

RAM is willing to take the customer’s money to get a place in the line. It costs $100 to reserve the right to pre-order the truck, and also grants access to exclusive events, news and information.

Also, I have questions and concerns about the giant, glowing new RAM icon. The typography and kerning are slightly different from the current logo and it looks a lot like the new Kia logo. which is not passing very well.
