A family is grieving after their loved one was shot dead on Friday.
Courtney Spraggins, 26, was the victim of a homicide involving an on-duty Huntsville Police Department officer, her family told WAAY 31.
That officer, David McCoy, 28, is facing murder charges and is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation is leading an investigation into what Huntsville police called an “incident” Friday on Lawsons Ridge Drive.
McCoy is on administrative leave pending HPD’s internal review of the case according to their policy.

Family members say Courtney was seven months pregnant and had an affair with McCoy.
Courtney is already a mother of two and is pregnant with a baby girl, her family told WAAY 31.
“I miss your laughter and your smile,” said the Spraggins’ sister, Megan Nicole. “We are complete opposites but we have a bond like no other. I miss you! It’s not fair that you have to leave. Your life has been taken and there will be justice for you.”

Tyler Berryhill, Madison County Coroner, an autopsy will be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science’s Huntsville Area Laboratory on Monday.
Two sources told WAAY 31 that McCoy shot a girlfriend in the head inside a parked car, then called to death that the woman had shot herself.
Those sources said the woman had recently informed McCoy that she was pregnant before the shooting occurred.
The Spraggins family says McCoy learned about the pregnancy.
McCoy is said to have called to send a notice saying that a woman who appeared to be a suicide victim was sitting in a car in an apartment complex’s parking lot, both sources said.
Text messages on the woman’s phone helped investigators determine what they said really happened Friday morning.
According to law enforcement sources, Huntsville Police Department investigators who responded to a call from their case officer conducted an initial interview with McCoy before the SBI could speak to him. ta.
