The fastest growing black hole in the universe, 7,000 times brighter than the entire galaxy
Scientists have discovered the fastest growing black hole in the past 9 billion years. The black hole, which emits multi-wavelength light that radiates across the universe, is 7,000 times brighter than the entire Milky Way galaxy. Therefore, it is also known as a quasar. For those who don’t know, quasars are among the brightest objects in the universe. When supermassive black holes emit matter at high speeds, the end result is a quasar. The scientists, who analyzed its properties, named it SMSS J114447.77-430859.3 (J1144 for short).
According to analysis, light from the black hole has traveled nearly 7 billion years to reach The earth. The mass of this supermass black hole is about 2.6 billion times the mass of Sun. In fact, matter equivalent to the mass of the Earth falls into this black hole every second.
The team’s research was sent to Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia. We would like to add that so far this black hole has not been noticed by scientists. As the position is concerned, it lies 18 degrees above the galactic plane. Meanwhile, in previous surveys, it was found that the location is more than 20 degrees above Galaxy plate.
Astronomer Christopher Onken from the Australian National University speak“Astronomers have been hunting for objects like this for more than 50 years. They found thousands of fainter ones, but this amazing light passed unnoticed. “
According to Onken and his team, this black hole is a “very large, unexpected needle in a haystack”.
Professor Christian Wolf, co-author, said, “We are quite confident that this record will not be broken. We have basically run out of the sky where objects like this can be hidden. hide.”
As a result of this discovery, scientists are more and more eager to hunt down the quasar. Currently, there are 80 new quasars confirmed by the team of scientists.
