The final trailer for Super Mario Bros. appeared with more rainbow paths
During a Nintendo Direct on Thursday that focused entirely on the Super Mario Bros. movie, the final trailer for the film was shared. The film is slated to hit theaters on April 7.
After a bit of joking between the actors, the trailer premiered, showing Luigi locked in a cage along with various other Mario characters, including the very direct Luma. We get to see Bowser and his army, some Mario background, and more Mario Kart and Rainbow Road action.
After the trailer, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the film’s post-production is now complete. Also, somewhat oddly, Mario’s shoes in the movie have been recreated in real life and will be on display at the Nintendo store in New York starting March 10, or Mario Day.
It features an all-star cast, with Chris Pratt voicing Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy playing Princess Peach. Seth Rogen voices Donkey Kong, Jack Black voices Bowser and Charlie Day voices Luigi.
The animated film is produced by Illumination, the studio behind popular series like Despicable Me and Minions, and is directed by animation veterans Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The script is written by Matthew Fogel, who is best known for his work on The Lego Movie 2. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, serves as the film’s producer.
The movie Super Mario Bros. is expected to be a great success at the box office. The highest-grossing video game film of all time is Warcraft with an estimated $440 million worldwide. For more, check out GameSpot’s summary of highest grossing video game movie of all time.
